Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana is a Central Sector Scheme was launched on 17th September 2023 by the Prime Minister to provide support to artisans and craftspeople. PM Vishwakarma Yojana was launched by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises will initially be implemented for five years up to 2027-28. Through this scheme artisans and craftspeople will be provided free credit, skill training, modern tools, incentive for digital transactions and market linkage support.
Beneficiary of Covered under PM Vishwakarma Yojana
The Scheme covers artisans and craftspeople engaged in 18 trades, viz. Carpenter (Suthar/Badhai), Boat Maker, Armourer, Blacksmith (Lohar), Hammer and Tool Kit Maker, Locksmith, Goldsmith (Sonar), Potter (Kumhaar), Sculptor (Moortikar, stone carver), Stone breaker, Cobbler (Charmkar)/ Shoesmith/Footwear artisan, Mason (Rajmistri), Basket/Mat/Broom Maker/Coir Weaver, Doll & Toy Maker (Traditional), Barber (Naai), Garland maker (Malakaar), Washerman (Dhobi), Tailor (Darzi) and Fishing Net Maker.

Objectives of PM Vishwakarma Yojana
- Skill Development and Training: To enhance the skills of traditional artisans through training programs that incorporate modern techniques and technologies, thereby improving the quality and marketability of their products.
- Financial Assistance: To provide financial aid in the form of grants and low-interest loans to help artisans invest in better tools, materials, and infrastructure.
- Market Access: To facilitate better market access for artisanal products through e-commerce platforms, trade fairs, and exhibitions, both domestically and internationally.
- Social Security: To offer social security benefits, including health insurance and pension schemes, ensuring a safety net for artisans and their families.
- Digital empowerment: To provide them knowledge of digital transactions to encourage the digital empowerment of these Vishwakarma’s.
- Infrastructure Development: To develop dedicated clusters and hubs for artisans, equipped with modern facilities and infrastructure, fostering a conducive environment for collaborative work and innovation.
- Brand Promotion: To provide a platform for brand promotion and market linkages to help them access new opportunities for growth.
Implementing Agencies
The scheme is conjointly implemented by the following Ministries/Departments:
- Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME).
- Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
- Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance (MoF).
Benefits of PM Vishwakarma Yojana
- Skill Verification followed by 5-7 days (40 hours) of Basic Training
- Interested candidates can also enrol for 15 days (120 hours) of Advanced Training
- Training Stipend: ₹ 500 per day
- Collateral-free Enterprise Development Loans: ₹ 1,00,000 (First Tranche for 18 months repayment) & ₹ 2,00,000 (Second Tranche for 30 months repayment)
- Concessional Rate of Interest: 5% to be charged from the beneficiary with an Interest Subvention cap of 8% to be paid by MoMSME.
Incentive for Digital Transaction: ₹ 1 per transaction for a maximum of up to 100 transactions (monthly)Marketing Support: The National Committee for Marketing (NCM) will provide services such as Quality Certification, Branding and Promotion, e-commerce Linkage, Trade Fair Advertising, Publicity and Other Marketing Activities.
Eligibility
The applicant applying for PM Vishwakarma yojana:
- Should be an artisan or craftsperson working with hands and tools.
- Should be engaged in an unorganized sector on a self-employment basis.
- Should be engaged in one of the 18 family-based traditional trades mentioned in the scheme.
- The minimum age of the applicant should be 18 years.
- Should be engaged in the concerned trade on the date of registration.
- Should not have availed loans under similar schemes of the Central Government or State Government for self-employment/ business development.
- The benefits under the Scheme will be provided to one member of the family.
How to apply for PM Vishwakarma Yojana
Follow the steps given below for registration under PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
Registration
- Visit official website of pmvishwakarma.gov.in
- On the top right corner, click “Login”. Then click “CSC – Register Artisans”.
- Now click on Registration Now , then registration page will appear
- On the Aadhaar Verification Page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked Mobile Number and then click on continue button.
- On the next page, enter your Aadhaar Number and the Aadhaar Registered Mobile Number and click on continue.
Application
- Visit your nearest CSC and complete the Biometric Verification Process.
- In the Online Application Form, fill in all the mandatory details, and click Submit.
- Now note down the Application Number for future reference. Click Done Button.
Verification
- Verification of Eligibility at Gram Panchayat or ULB level.
- Recommendation of the Applications by the District Implementation Committee.
- The Screening Committee will accord final approval of the beneficiaries for registration after satisfying itself as to their eligibility.
